Dark Clouds Spreading – A Poem

By Adam J. Pearson

The pristine waters
Flow in graceful rivers
From her eyes.

An ache that beats
Like a native drum–
A broken heart.

A statue on a pedestal
Toppled and shattered–
Her trust.

Lips that part to form
A vast and lonely chasm–
A goodbye.

Colour drained from life,
A canvas wiped clean–
Lost love.

Dark clouds spreading
To engulf the sun–
Surrender.
